KDTime: Matty Mitchell

Image
Episode 92 Matt is one of the funniest guests I've had on the show. He brings a certain level of energy and allows for the conversation to flow. We had such a fun time recording the episode and it felt like we've been friends for a long time.  He has quite the story and had an amazing job as an illustrator. He has his own podcast called Drawn to Your Story. He draws as you tell him your story. his drawings are funny and not your regular type of drawings. You can find his work on instagram, twitter and more here's his link https://mattymitchell.com/dtys

KDTime: Healthy vs Unhealthy Jobs

Image
Episode 72 In this episode, talking about healthy jobs versus unhealthy jobs makes you think about the type of field you are in. You wouldn't think that a job is necessarily unhealthy until you either experience it or have a friend or family member who can tell you about it. You wouldn't think a harmless job being behind a desk for 40 hours a week is unhealthy because you aren't doing anything that's deemed unhealthy. But would you believe that sitting around all day is in fact unhealthy? I know I didn't think so until I got into this habit of being at desk everyday would do to me. I don't feel very active and I can easily sit there constantly on my computer checking on things for the job.  After reading both articles about which jobs are healthy and which aren't I've come to this conclusion this is an excerpt for the closer to the end of the show: "I think the main idea about these jobs, although it was funny to read that a florist job can be both ...

KDTime: Are Sports Stars Paid too much?

Image
Episode 63 How much is too much? This debate on sports athletes is ongoing and it won’t stop because we as fans will dish out by the bucket loads to watch entertainment. That’s what sports are right: entertaining and stressing and beautiful and anxiety building and all that. “That’s Hockey baby” “It is high it is deep it is gone see ya” “oh what a play! A 63 ft field goal is good" "From way downtown bang” did you recognize any of these sportscaster catchphrases? One of the things that brings people together is sports. We watch, we cheer, we boo, we dislike the refereeing, we chant, we sing, we slap five etc. We do it all with sports. Sometimes we cry or punch the television. Personally if my team(s) lose(s) I think about how they could’ve won just like every other sports fan. If this didn’t happen or if that didn’t happen or if that did happen and all of it. Right you think about what went wrong, or if they win what could’ve gone wrong. But the one thing i love about sports ...

KDTime: It's the Holiday Season

Image
Episode 56 In this episode, it's the last episode of 2022 and KDTime wraps up the year with gratitude for the retail world. It's the holiday season and the most important thing is that the people remember what it's all about. it's short and simple.  Here are at least 5 things to remember when it comes to holiday Breathe. Remember to take deep breaths.  Take time for yourself. You don't have to say “yes” to every social engagement that comes your way.  Create new memories.  Don't compare your family situation to a Hallmark card.  Be grateful. There are more things to remember but as long as you treat people as you want to be treated you should have a wonderful holiday season!

KDTime: Battle of the Butlers (Geoffrey vs Niles)

Image
Episode 54 There are two that stand out to me as I’ve watched TV over the years and they are Geoffrey from Fresh Prince of bel air played by Joseph Marcell (1990) and Niles from the Nanny (1993) played by Daniel Davis. Which was more savage? Who gave the best advice? Just a couple of the questions we’ll use to compare the two. Here is the first round quotes from the show. Round 1: Snark/Savage When Will asked about a party  Will: “Yo, Are we having a party? We’re gonna get stupid right? Geoffrey: “For some of us, that will require very little effort indeed” When Carlton made a wrong assumption Carlton: Geoffrey, Will has been hypnotized! The great mentos made him think he’s four years old! G: Can he make me think I care? To Will “I’m so terribly sorry, Master William, there’s been a misunderstanding. Apparently, I gave you the impression that I really wanted to know. When G literally put bread on Carlton’s head C: "Geoffrey can you make me a sandwich" G: *places bread* ...

KDTime: The Circle of Life

Image
Episode 41 If you've never seen these movies I suggest you stop reading before you are spoiled. Remember you were warned!! Now before I start this, let me just say that it was hard to choose but also one of the easiest choices I could make when it comes to these kinds of "choose one" scenarios. The thing is that I know each of these characters make a great case to be saved. Each of them have a prevalent presence in each of their movies. Some shorter than others. When I made my choice I thought about each character and I thought about how each of their deaths, which it seems like Disney is a little obsessed with, effected the main character of the movie. And in the end there is one clear choice and one second choice; but this is my opinion. I understand and I went through them character by character.  When you think about each of these specific characters you think about the emotions you felt when they are no longer on the screen. I had a certain attachment to one of the ...

KDTime: "Because of You" Album Analysis

Image
Episode 40 I did a similar episode for the first album In My Own Words, episode 23. I think the musical genius that is Ne-Yo created another story like album where all the songs are connected in some form or some way. For example with this particular album there is one girl who is multiple videos of the single releases and you can't tell me that the album songs aren't related. This story made me laugh because of all the back and forth and the drama of it all. He was with one girl and then cheated and then tried to pursue the next girl but was with his ex and then with another different girl. I'm like what is going on here?? But some people are like that. Rolling stones, dandelions blown from one place to another. They don't know how to keep still. I think the biggest differences between albums one and two are that in the first one he's the "victim" sort of, and it seems as though he's well a simp; which means that he's soft, too attentive and subm...

KDTime: Not so Nice Nursery

Image
Episode Thirty-Nine You grow up learning different songs and tunes because the people around sing them. It's kind how we learn everything, someone else teaches you or you find out on your own. Today makes things a lot easier to learn because you can practically be educated entirely from the internet or a tv show which could be dangerous or super helpful. In this case, I am talking about some beloved or not so beloved nursery rhymes that were sung a lot during our childhoods. We all legit had the same childhood which is still pretty weird but when you relate to others who you did not grow up with but instantly have a connection because of your past, history, up bringing it all feels like we grew up together in one house or area. Let me tell you though some of the nursery rhymes I talk about I wouldn't have thought twice about them as a kid. They were catchy, fun and thrilling. Once I learned some of their origins in high school I was shook. In this episode I’ll get into the 10 t...

KD Time: Adulting?

Image
When you hit 18 you are considered an adult in this world. It's hard to prepare for because 0-18 you are growing, but being an adult is so much more than being a certain age. There are grown people who do not act like adults. But the truth is I don't think anyone knows what being an adult really means. We just helplessly get older and with that aging process comes more responsibility. If a person grows up and isn't told they are an adult how do they know? How would they know unless someone else explained to them you are an adult. It's funny because, in movies like the Jungle Book, George of the Jungle or even Tarzan. How did those men find out they were adults?  I mean Mowgli was definitely a kid who thought he belonged in the jungle and grew up with wolves. So when he got older how did he know he was an adult? George had his best friend who was a gorilla named Ape  who would speak with him often.  Tarzan also grew up with gorillas. I guess my point is without knowing y...

KDTime: "You Can Do it" (Sports Movies)

"You Can Do it" one of the most common phrases in most of Adam Sandler's movies and a few of them are on the following list. There is no rhythm nor rhyme about this list. It is really just a list of sports movies that I've seen and enjoyed over the years. And there are plenty more out to see I know, but these were the ones that I have definitely seen and seen a lot. Some still more than others! My favorite sports movie and movie of all time is Remember the Titans. It is such a classic feel good movie. Here is the list so far... Comment your favorite sports movie or movies! KDTime: Am I a 2000s Kid?

Image
"Oh, well imagine As I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor And I can't help but to hear No, I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words" If you could tell the name of this song by just these lyrics I know you are a 2000s kid. The 2000s was a wild time to be alive. Everyone brags about the 90s myself included, but the 2000s brought so many things including really great music. So much great music that I challenged myself to figure out song lyrics from certain 2000s hits. 2000-2010 where I spent my pre-teen to full teenage years. Most of the music was listened to on the radios and then slowly on YouTube and then on other internet websites. I experienced a lot in my teen years but one thing is for sure I got through it with music. Listening to lyrics that somehow seemed to express my exact feelings at the time. Songs like "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield, "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé, "How you Remind Me" by Nickelback, "Yeah...
