KDTime: We're Filming

Movies are probably the best things I love to talk about. I watch so many movies it's crazy or at least it seems crazy to me. But I know there are people out there that watch movies for a living or even a side hobby giving their opinions and critics. In this episode two topics are addressed. The first topic is on movies that would be very interesting to see from another character's point of view. As I type this it gives me an idea for another kind of topic, but I won't say here. You'll have to listen to the episodes to find out what that is. Anyway the second topic is on movies that would make fantastic tv shows with the right people behind it of course.

Here's a list of the Movies for TV Show submission from the episode:

  • Percy Jackson

  • The twilight saga

  • 50 shades of grey

  • Look Who’s talking now

  • Master of Disguise

  • Inception

  • Spider-Man: into the spider verse

  • Clue

  • Harry Potter

  • Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • Lord of the rings

Tell me your thoughts. Are there other movies that would make great TV shows??

KDTime: Same Childhood Say Whaaa?

There is no doubt in my mind that the people I grew up with in the 90s and early 2000s in the concrete jungle that is NYC all somehow some way experienced the same childhood at some points in our life. Anywhere from watching the same tv shows like Barney, Between the Lions, Arthur, or the same movies like She's All That, 10 Things I hate about you, 17 again, Juno. But in a more realistic way how many of you remember making rap beats on the lunch table? It was sometimes my favorite part of going to lunch besides recess.

In this particular episode three topics are addressed. First regarding our childhoods, second on being a "YES" person and finally a fun hashtag called #YouAreOfficiallyOldIf

three fun and light topics and that make you think about good old days and fun times before things changed for you. in hindsight everything changes because people who are being born today will have a completely different experience of life than you. Remember that.

Here's an excerpt from the episode;

"If you have a twitter account sometimes in your search menu or timeline you’ll see hashtags that basically have been used so many times that they become a trending topic. Right now there aren’t as many funny trending topics that circulate on a higher level because most of us are focused on what’s going on right now. I mean sometimes my timelines show funny things but it's very few and far in between and i just know we need a good laugh sometimes to relieve ourselves from stress and tension. There's  a time to be serious and a time to be silly I know. But even during serious times things can get too intense and I think a good laugh is a great way to break the tension.

I hope you had a good laugh. I like doing feel good episodes. I spend most of my personal time trying to be in the moment and happy. And I'm doing my best to stay positive and hopeful. In regard to the seriousness with our country's politics and the change that it so desperately needs. Stay open-minded and do your part to be on the positive side of change. We make our own history. I’ll end on a quote. Recovery Experts .com says “Look for something positive each day, even if some days you have to look a little harder.”"

KDTime: Hey Dj, Is This a Wedding Song?

There are many songs out and it is very clear that not all are for weddings. But sometimes that isn't clear to people. To be completely fair. You can play whatever you want at your wedding because it's your wedding. Do what makes you happy. A lot of people don't know thi, but I'll let you in on a little secret. You making yourself happy is a THOUSAND times better than trying to please other people. Trying to please people and trying to make people happy are different trust me.

Any way here's an excerpt from the episode and the list of songs I mention.

"This episode I’ll be talking about wedding songs. I wonder if artists whose songs are infamously known to be played at weddings thought after they made the song that yes this is totally a wedding song. Of course most love songs are played at weddings but songs such as “What is Love” by Haddaway isn’t exactly a wedding song. The song was released in 1992 and it’s dance/electronic. The lyrics don’t scream play me at a wedding but the beat and head bobbing dancing are just too good to pass up. In reality literally any song and every song could be played at weddings but the thing is that’s not going to happen. You won’t hear Barney’s theme song playing at weddings. I mean unless the couple is just Barney fanatics then maybe but it is HIGHLY unlikely with much emphasis on highly.

Now I did a little research because I was generally curious what songs could absolutely NOT be played at weddings. And the list was pretty long. From Brides.com (now if you are a bride listening to this please feel free to do whatever you want). They have a list of 30 songs to add to the DO NOT PLAY list. The list goes as follows:

  1. Every Breath you take - the police

  2. I will always love you - whitney houston

  3. Make you feel my love - adele

  4. The scientist - coldplay

  5. My heart will go on - celine dion

  6. The sweetest thing - u2

  7. I will survive - gloria gaynor

  8. White wedding - billy idol

  9. Tainted love - soft cell

  10. If you wanna be happy - jimmy soul

  11. You give love a bad name - bon jovi

  12. Gold digger - kanye west

  13. Baby got back - sir mix-a-lot

  14. Bootylicious - destiny’s child

  15. Blurred lines - robin thicke

  16. Cha cha slide - mr. c

  17. Celebration - kool & the gang

  18. Ymca - village people

  19. Cotton eye joe - rednex

  20. Macarena - los del rio

  21. We are family - sister sledge

  22. Shout, part 1 & 2 - the isley brothers

  23. Stayin alive - the bee gees

  24. Hokey pokey - play school kids

  25. Watch me (whip/nae nae) - silento

  26. Electric slide - marcia griffith

  27. Wobble - v.i.c

  28. Gangnam style - psy

  29. Ice ice baby - vanilla ice

  30. Play that funky music - wild cherry

Those first 15 songs the lyrics to each song are problematic if you’re trying to portray love and happiness. Some are pretty obvious why they shouldn’t be played but if you’ve never one like i’ve never heard the song if you wanna be happy by jimmy soul before and so i went to youtube and it’s a pretty upbeat song BUT the lyrics are “if you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. So from my personal point of view get an ugly girl to marry you.” like what?! Who hurt you jimmy??

And yes you guessed it the second half of the songs are the cheesiest songs. Yes they’ll get the crowd moving but to be honest these songs are so played out now. I think we can agree that there are much better songs out there that’ll get the crowd going. Don’t get me wrong i will dance to these songs but i’m not and i know a lot of others are not running to the dance floor when these are playing. They usually only work if we’re already dancing. But I've seen many people go back and sit down when those songs pop on."
