KDTime: "Because of You" Album Analysis

Episode 40

I did a similar episode for the first album In My Own Words, episode 23. I think the musical genius that is Ne-Yo created another story like album where all the songs are connected in some form or some way. For example with this particular album there is one girl who is multiple videos of the single releases and you can't tell me that the album songs aren't related. This story made me laugh because of all the back and forth and the drama of it all. He was with one girl and then cheated and then tried to pursue the next girl but was with his ex and then with another different girl. I'm like what is going on here?? But some people are like that. Rolling stones, dandelions blown from one place to another. They don't know how to keep still.

I think the biggest differences between albums one and two are that in the first one he's the "victim" sort of, and it seems as though he's well a simp; which means that he's soft, too attentive and submissive to women. In the second album he's the one thats acting out and changing the status quo. He is getting with whoever even while in a relationship at times and gaslights the girl into thinking everything isn't as it seems when in reality it is what it seems.

It's clever but sad that from the first album to the second he does a complete 180 and isn't the same guy anymore. "No more mister nice guy" and since the second album is called "Because of You" it sounds like he's blaming the women or a woman in particular for this new behavior.

At the end of the day, it's all just entertainment and that's all there is to it.

An Excerpt from the episode:

"Because of You was released by Compound Entertainment and Def Jam Recordings. There were four singles Because of You, Do You, Can we Chill, and Go on Girl. It was received well, reviews were generally favorable and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 on it’s first week of release. B. o. Y. The song came out on the radios in March of 2007. And of course I’d search for it every time I listened to the radio. The great and not so great thing about listening to radios is that they play the same music so frequently so even if you heard or just missed a song don’t worry it’ll come on again in like 20 mins because once the song is in circulation it needs to be played. Nowadays with everything streaming there really isn’t a need to listen to the radio. I barely listen to the radio anymore and that’s just because the stations are always static-y. Those who still listen to the radio know what I’m talking about. I do love and miss when the DJ has mixes and all that. Anyway back to this album analysis I think just like In My Own Words this album has a story to tell and we’ll kick off that story in just a min."

KDTime: Not so Nice Nursery

Episode Thirty-Nine

You grow up learning different songs and tunes because the people around sing them. It's kind how we learn everything, someone else teaches you or you find out on your own. Today makes things a lot easier to learn because you can practically be educated entirely from the internet or a tv show which could be dangerous or super helpful. In this case, I am talking about some beloved or not so beloved nursery rhymes that were sung a lot during our childhoods. We all legit had the same childhood which is still pretty weird but when you relate to others who you did not grow up with but instantly have a connection because of your past, history, up bringing it all feels like we grew up together in one house or area. Let me tell you though some of the nursery rhymes I talk about I wouldn't have thought twice about them as a kid. They were catchy, fun and thrilling. Once I learned some of their origins in high school I was shook. In this episode I’ll get into the 10 ten and and the darkest nursery rhyme of all of them.

Which is the darkest nursery to you?

Which should have never been created?
