Squad up!

Gang gang gang!

Let me stop😂. A squad can best be described as a group, gang, or team and if you have several friends or people you hang out they are your squad. Your people, your posse, gang gang 😂. The people you like to keep in your inner circle have certain attributes and qualities to bring to the group. I have a tight knit circle that I love and they love me. I do my best to express my feelings and thoughts to them and we have a lot of fun.

Having any kind of friend group has it's advantages and disadvantages though because when you disagree with a least one person of the group and it isn't resolved it can cause big tensions. It's kind of funny how shows will have friends get over certain things quickly when in the real world that isn't always the case. Sometimes friends grow distant, but the ones who are meant to stay in your circle do and the ones who aren't meant to stay, don't.

With all this being said let's get into the episode shall we. In this episode I talk about Iron Maidens, Sex-Symbols, Mothers, and Child-like tropes in some four women cast ensemble TV shows. These have been seen through a lot of TV shows but for this particular episode, I only speak about The Golden Girls, Living Single, Girlfriends, and Pretty Little Liars. Three sitcoms and one drama. Plenty of four women cast ensembles explore the archetypes mentioned but for these four shows I've seen every episode and can see the types outright especially in the first season of each of these shows.

Here are the archetypes and Goddess counterparts:

Iron Maidens can also be considered the mothers of the group because they tend to make decisions that affect the group in a more stable light. They bring forth the most feminist perspective of all the other archetypes. Archetype meaning a typical example of a certain person or thing. They are often depicted as independent and in no serious need of a man but at the same time vulnerable to men who open them up or break down their walls. Normally their independence would shine as a strength especially when it comes to standing up for what's right and unjust. Her comparison to a goddess would be Artemis. Artemis is confident, strong, goal-oriented, independent and embodies feminist ideals.

The children of the group don’t always make the best decisions and serve as less competent dependents. Often going to the mother or iron maiden of their groups for guidance and help. Most of the time decisions are made for them. When compared to a goddess their characteristics are the same as Persephone. Persephone is the goddess who is passive, compliant and child-like. Someone who is seen as weak and in need of rescue.

The sex objects or symbols are seen as desirable, wanted, needed and they downplay their intellect because they want to be wanted. This trope characterizes women solely by their beauty and sexuality. The equivalent goddess is Aphrodite. One song that came to mind is She’s So High by Tal Bachman because of the lyrics. He’s so enamored by this person that he immediately puts himself down because he doesn’t think he could match her. Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty and her power comes from her sex appeal, her sexuality.

The Mothers are supportive, helpful, advisors, and comforters. The mother of the group is usually looked to for emotional advice or support and often the one who will more often than not listen to the others of the group. Most women represent this maternal extinct in all aspects of their lives whether it's with close friends, friends in general or in the workplace with coworkers. The maternal goddess similar to this trope is Demeter. Demeter is the goddess of the harvest. She is actually the mother of Persephone.

KDTheme: TV Theme Songs 2 Part Two

Twenty Eight

Be careful not to mess with the balance of things, because everything is not what it seems. This is the second half of TV Show Theme songs. The first half consisted of cartoons and sitcoms and this half consisted of dramas and kid shows. Dramas like Degrassi: Next Generation, Charmed (original), Shameless, Teen Wolf and more. Kid shows like Hannah Montana, Bob the Builder, All That, and more. These shows have shaped my childhood and adolescence. I enjoyed these shows greatly and most of them hooked me in with their theme or opening music along with the actors and actresses I saw from trailers.

The thing about TV is that if it’s not an instant hit and consistently great then even if you love a show, the network can cancel the show because it's not getting the traction that was promised or hoped for. It absolutely sucks when you get into a show and then it gets cancelled for in my opinion bad reasons. The most recent ones that I watched were LoveCraft Country, Grand Army, and Stumptown. When a show is on the chopping block it's very rare that they will survive the ax.

Here's an excerpt from the show:

"In this episode we are definitely going to stroll down memory on some shows that ended their series long ago along with some recent endings. I think the majority of both lists have shows that are hitting the 2021 fall lineup that’s for sure. It’s gonna be alright"

Will it be alright? I have no idea but the new shows that are coming to TV will go the same motions. Hopefully 2021's fall lineup will bring more amazing shows that don't get axed after one or a two seasons.

Here's the list of Dramas on show;

Dramas:

  1. Stranger Things

  2. Supernatural

  3. Charmed

  4. Riverdale

  5. One Tree Hill

  6. Teenwolf

  7. Orange is the New Black

  8. Shameless

  9. Glee

  10. Degrassi: The Next Generation

KDTime: TV Theme Songs 2

Episodes Twenty- Seven & Twenty-Eight

It was so nice I had to do it twice. Some people actually suggested these TV theme songs and others I wanted to include because they are dope. This is part two. This episode includes a short story of a vacation taken to Niagara Falls, Lake Placid, Vermont, and Massachusetts and nostalgia of good TV shows. Some of these shows just barely missed the first list in episode thirteen, but it was only so many I could fit so here we go again. This episode was so BIG that I had to split it in two. First half/Part One has the theme songs listed below and the second half/Part Two will be all about the drama and kid shows. Enjoy 👊

Similar to Kenan & Kel (from Kenan & Kel) Kenan: I'll need a microphone, a topic, and a platform and for you guys to meet me on Spotify. Kel: Awww Here it goes!

Speaking of Spotify, this episode is available on there. Links are on the left :)

Below lists the TV shows by cartoons, and sitcoms.

Cartoons:

  1. Batman Theme

  2. Family Guy

  3. The Simpsons

  4. American Dad

  5. Ducktales

  6. Gravity Falls

  7. Sagwa the Siamese Cat

  8. Liberty Kids

  10. House of Mouse

Sitcoms:

  2. Big Bang Theory

  3. That 70s Show

  4. The Drew Carey Show

  5. Different World

  6. Moesha

  7. The Parkers

  8. One on One

  9. Girlfriends

  10. Cheers

  11. The Addams Family

  12. Malcolm in the Middle

  13. How I Met Your Mother

  14. Brooklyn Nine Nine

  15. New Girl

  16. Two and a Half Men

  17. Grace & Frankie

  18. What I like about you

Most of these shows have either ended or are about to end. I think the only ones on these two lists
that are still running are Family Guy, The Simpsons, American Dad, Brooklyn 99 and Grace & Frankie.
DuckTales (woo ooo) does not count because it was rebooted and the one on this list is from the 80s.
Still it's cool that it's back. I should watch some of it though. I haven't seen much of the new series.

KDTime: Reality Bites or Does it?

   Twenty Six

I'm back from a very long hiatus as I said from the previous post I haven't posted or published anything for several months. Well I am back and fair warning when I don't post or publish things it's really because of life changes. I should be more forthcoming but it can be overwhelming to keep up with everything unless I make this my number one priority which is definitely a future possibility. Right now podcasting isn't putting food on the table so I'll keep working.

In this episode I pick up where I left off going right into talking about dating TV shows. I sincerely think that we all have succumbed to watching a dating TV show whether it's one of the obvious like the Bachelor/Bachelorette, or the dating game, maybe even 90 day Fiancée. Either way we have fallen into a cycle of watching love/dating shows because a part of us just believes watching a show on love and dating will somehow help us in our own dating lives. We can see the do's and don'ts and hope for the best. But the reality is that love and dating is just as hard, if not harder when you aren't being fed the right words to say. Did I just spill those beans? Yes some shows are completely fabricated and scripted for the "drama". Some of the dating shows we watch aren't real at all and that sucks but it's TV magic that makes us believe it.

I found a link on BuzzFeed about some of the secrets behind the scenes of most dating shows. You can see for yourself or you can choose to be happily ignorant towards the truth that the dating shows we enjoy are only just for show. Here it is below: https://www.buzzfeed.com/sydrobinson1/reality-dating-show-behind-the-scenes-secrets

Here's an excerpt from the episode:

"We are suckers for the story where two strangers fall in love even if the way it happens is a complete fantasy. It’s all about drama and we love a good drama so we can feel good about our own lives saying things like oh if that were me then… or i would never treat them that way. And that’s why you are not in the show. We also have that hopeful feeling or sort of wish for those two people who ended up together on the show to make it work outside of the show but that doesn’t always happen. Because romance in reality tv is not the same as real life romance."
