Singing with the Veggies: Our Favorite Silly Songs from VeggieTales

If you grew up with VeggieTales, you already know the magic of a good “Silly Song with Larry.” In this episode, Judith and I took a nostalgic stroll down the produce aisle called the memory lane as we laughed, sang, and reminisced about our favorite VeggieTales silly songs.

From “The Hairbrush Song” to “His Cheeseburger,” these catchy, quirky tunes were more than just filler—they were iconic moments that had us cracking up as kids (and, let’s be honest, as adults too). Jude and I couldn’t stop smiling as we recalled how the clever lyrics, playful storytelling, and unforgettable melodies stuck with us all these years.

Here are some of the Silly Songs we absolutely love:

• 🛁 “The Hairbrush Song” – A melodramatic masterpiece about a missing hairbrush… sung by a vegetable with no hair. Iconic.

• 🧀 “His Cheeseburger” – A fast-food love ballad with surprising emotional depth. Mr Lunt sings his heart out for how committed the customer is.

• 🐃 “The Song of the Cebu” – A travel slideshow turned absurd musical tale of a boy, a Cebu, and a canoe.

• 👢 “I Love My Lips” – A therapy session gone hilariously off the rails as Larry worries about his lips and other totally normal things.

• 🍦 “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything” – Technically a group effort, but still a silly song classic. These “pirates” aren’t doing much, and that’s the whole joke. Perfection.

But what made these songs so special? For us, it was the humor—pure, innocent, and sometimes surprisingly relatable. Whether Larry was losing his hairbrush, serenading a cheeseburger, or getting dramatic over a water buffalo, the songs blended childlike absurdity with a surprising level of wit. And let’s not forget Bob the Tomato, who always tried to keep things grounded while Larry just... did Larry things. "Miren al Tomate, No es triste" hahahaha

We also discovered something kind of hilarious: Jude and I are basically Bob and Larry in real life. One of us is more grounded and serious (Bob), while the other is more chaotic and imaginative (definitely Larry). It added an extra layer of fun to the episode as we compared our personalities to these classic characters.
