Episode 69
Despite popular belief our hearts don’t actually have components that manifest as thinking but it does show strong changes to emotions but the heart itself cannot feel. Hard to believe that your heart can’t feel because it feels like it can. Especially when we feel heartbroken. It is truly our brain/mind that allows us to think, feel, and act using many systems of neurons that work together. The brain/mind is one that creates emotions and thoughts. Our hearts are believed to be relatively close with emotional attachments such as love, kindness, affection, caring, and more while our minds are mostly connected to rational, educational, knowledgeable, and logical thinking as well as memory and judgment etc.
So which do you follow more?
Why do we think our hearts talk to us? Why do we associate the emotional feelings with our heart? Why can’t we tell our brain to control our emotions?
As a people we have a lot of things that may drive us to do the things we do. Whether it’s our career, our relationships, our personal struggles. We are all driven to do things based on how we feel. But do our feelings come from our head or our heart? There’s two things we need in life: sensitivity and sensibility. We should be sensitive and sensible in all our interactions including the ones with ourselves. Having a sharp intellect and a soft heart is beneficial in the long run.
Although your heart doesn’t physically talk to you like your inner voice it sure is telling your brain things. They are connected after all. Your heart will allow you more freedom, less regret, less fear, more openness, less overthinking and more boldness.
Your mind will put things into perspective, produce new ideas, allow us to think strategically, manage our emotions and typically keeps us in check.
You honestly can’t choose one over the other. You need both of them to function and take on this human existence and it’s not easy either. Sometimes you are going to make decisions that your mind won't like or your heart won't like. To be a person, to be a human being you have to remember that making decisions is a part of life. Saying yes all the time and throwing caution to the wind if fun and all but reality will catch up with you and you’re going to think logically and rationally. Life isn’t rational all the time and it’s certainly not irrational either.
